What are the proceeds of the tournament going towards?
This whole project is an effort to build Fully Accessible Beaches (FAB) where children with disabilities will be able to easily access the beach (Petrie Island) and specially designed play areas making it possible for those with disabilities to interact with able bodied individuals as equals. FAB along with Variety of Ottawa, are working hard to make this vision a reality and it wouldn’t be possible with the kindness, support and generosity of those in our community.
What time should I arrive for registration?
The tournament starts at 10 am the opening remarks start at 9:30. We strongly suggest arriving at 8:30 to give you a chance to check in, meet up with your team, set up your tent if have one and stretch.
I’m not playing volleyball; can I still come for the day?
Absolutely! This is going to be one huge beach party with live music, DJ, beach games, food trucks and beer garden. All things awesome! We do however strongly urge you to support our vendors and participate in draw and raffles etc.
What should I bring?
Bring water, towels, cash, sunscreen, and your game face and ear protection for the little ones! Or for anyone who may have sensitive hearing. It could get loud! After all, we have bands ALL day!
What’s the best way to get there?
Although there is parking at Petrie Island, we strongly suggest taking your bike if you can; there are plenty of places to lock it. Public transportation is also a great option. It’s a reasonable walk from the Trim stop/park and ride. There’s also the 139 TRIM that goes down to the beach quit frequently on Saturdays
Is there a cost for parking?
The city charges $2 to park for the day. Don’t forget to pay and display!!
